Nick Dunlap, a 20-year-old American golfer who achieved a remarkable feat by winning as both an amateur and a professional in the same season, has been honored with the PGA Tour’s Rookie of the Year award for the 2024 season. The PGA Tour announced the recognition on Thursday, with Dunlap receiving the prestigious Arnold Palmer Award after securing 57% of the membership vote, beating out fellow nominees Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp, and Matthieu Pavon.
Dunlap’s groundbreaking season began with his victory at The American Express in La Quinta, California, in January, where he became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson’s triumph at the Northern Telecom Open in 1991. His win, achieved while still a collegiate golfer, marked him as one of the brightest young talents in the sport.
